With the end of the year, many students are out of class for various reasons. At the same time, many big projects are assigned. See a problem?
Students, seniors primarily, miss a lot of classes at the end of school when their grades matter the most. Choir goes to states

Everyone likes to have pride in his or her school, and they like to have a reason to hold that pride. NEWSFLASH! Grand Blanc High School just got a brand new reason to have a lot of pride, and this pride comes from the choir department. It just so happens that this year, as well as last year; Chorale and Girls’ Glee Club each received a “one” at districts (which is the highest score you can get, outside of the superior rating) and were able to move on to States.
