The Darko Milicic era left a definitive mark on the Detroit Pistons. When the Pistons selected Milicic with the second overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, fans cried foul as players such as Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, and Dwayne Wade were picked in succession after Milicic by the Nuggets, Raptors, and Heat, respectively. Despite missing out on future All-Star talent, the Pistons went on to win the 2004 NBA Championship with Milicic riding the bench.
