The 2010 Olympics started out a little rocky with the death of a Georgian Luger, but after some adjustments to the track the Olympic games were underway. The lighting of the cauldron included speed skater Catriona Le May Doan, basketball all-star Steve Nash, skier Nancy Greene, and legendary hockey player Wayne Gretzky. Fans from all around the world came to witness their own piece of history as hard trained atheletes put it all on the line for one chance at Olympic success. And when it was all said and done, the best atheletes were heroes to the countries that they so proudly represented.

Giving more than just time

A group of 110 brave students got the opportunity to get out of class to save lives on Friday, Jan. 22. How? These students, primarily juniors and seniors, were donors for the Red Cross blood drive.
At first some students were nervous about needles and the idea of giving blood.
“I’m really, really terrified right now,” said junior Meghan Bade. Luckily, Bade had some assistance as good friend and fellow donor, Nicole DeSousa, supported her with encouraging words and a hand to grip. DeSousa was “super-stoked” to give blood for the cause.

Thanksgiving woes

Imagine this: Thanksgiving day, you walk into your grandparents’ house only to be overwhelmed by the wafting aromas of delicious turkey and mashed potatoes, seeing the slowly burning fire, and hearing the laughter of family you have waited to see for months. A perfect scene, right? Then, to top it all off, your uncle harmlessly flips on the football game only to reveal his favorite football team down by 27 with three minutes to go. Wait…there’s something wrong here…maybe…oh yeah—the Lions.

As Americans, the word “variety” is the last word we might use to describe the culture and never-ending options of food we have every day. Beatlemania spreads to Grand Blanc

Rock Band has been one of the most successful video games to recreate the feeling of bands rocking out on stage. With aspects such as a realistic “performance meter” and stage shows, now every kids’ dream of starting their own rock band can come true. The game consists of players jammin’ on the lead/bass guitar, tearin’ it up on the drums, or singing their hearts out with the microphone. Also, Rock Band has a wide variety of songs, from metal to punk and now to the…Beatles!!
