The Swan Thieves takes an artistic approach to literature.

In 2005, Elizabeth Kostova’s debut novel, The Historian was the fastest selling debut novel in U.S. history. As a result, she faced quite a daunting task with her second book, The Swan Thieves.
This contemporary “thriller” revolves around a painter named Robert Oliver who inexplicably attacks a painting in Washington’s National Gallery with his only explanation being, “I did it for her,” before he falls into complete silence. The narrator of the story is Oliver’s psychiatrist Andrew Marlow, who is in fact, a painter himself.

C.D. Payne’s novel took over 16 years to make it to the big screen. Even with all that time, the film’s creators were unable to capture the true essence of the novel. The film adaptation of Youth in Revolt chopped huge chunks out of a brilliantly written book in favor of a more precise storyline.

The excitement of college, for most high school students, is one emotion teens do not want to ignore. College Girl by Patricia Weitz is an insightful book, it teaches life lessons teens will find themselves learning in the near future. I read it to enlighten my views on college life.
I could relate to the main character (Natalie Bloom) who was in her final year of college at UConn.

Watching out for ‘The Watchmen’

Watchmen looks to be a visual spectacle with an incredible plot. Whether someone is an avid comic book geek or a regular moviegoer, they should love this movie. The only question that remains is “Who watches (the) Watchmen?”

The Darko Milicic era left a definitive mark on the Detroit Pistons. When the Pistons selected Milicic with the second overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, fans cried foul as players such as Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, and Dwayne Wade were picked in succession after Milicic by the Nuggets, Raptors, and Heat, respectively. Despite missing out on future All-Star talent, the Pistons went on to win the 2004 NBA Championship with Milicic riding the bench.
