‘Glee’ will have you begging for an encore

glee_new1When the previews for Glee came out in the summer, I quickly grew obsessed over the 30 second promotional ads on Fox. Once the season started, I fell in love with the show. Not because it has an amazing cast, or because I can “relate” to it, but because it can come off as cheesy and yet still be hilarious.

The show is set in McKinley High School where the cheerleaders and football jocks rule everything and the teens that aren’t “Cheerios” (cheerleaders) or football stars are losers; including the students who are in Glee Club.

The cast is beyond amazing. Lea Michele plays Rachel Berry, a teen dedicated to becoming famous; she uses Myspace and the Glee Club to its fullest potential in order to become a big star.

Other characters include Mercedes (Amber Riley), a girl with the mindset and voice of a diva who takes mess from no one. Kurt (Chris Colfer), the flamboyant high fashioned soprano. The teacher who wants to make glee popular again like it was when he was in high school is Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison). Mckinley High germaphobic counselor, Emma Pillsbury (Jayma Mays) plays a major part in the show as well. The cheerleaders, also known as the Cheerios coach is the insensitive Sue Sylvester, (Jane Lynch).

The songs in Glee range from old and modern. From “Somebody to Love” by Queen to “Halo” by Beyoncé, the remakes are more than amazing. Even the cheesiest songs are turned into a song you want to sing constantly.

This show was set up for success, as it is produced by Ryan Murphy, who also wrote Nip/Tuck.

Once again, I’m sitting on the edge of my seat living off of the 30 second advertisements for the next episode. Darn this show that I have grown to love.
